Sugden Regional Park

Memorial Day services sponsored by First Assembly Ministries takes place at 11 a.m. Sunday at Sugden Regional Park just off U.S. 41 E. on Avalon Road. Special events include patriotic music, a "God Bless America" sermon, a water ski show by the Gulf Coast Skimmers, a water baptismal service and more. Information: 774-1165.

Naples Memorial Gardens

Veterans Council of Collier County and Naples Memorial Gardens will host a Memorial Day event beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the gardens at 525 111th Ave. N. Plans call for speakers, a special presentation to commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-Day, musical selections by the Barron Collier High School Symphonic Band and more. Information: 597-3101.

Naples Pier

A Memorial Day service, sponsored by Pax Christi Naples, will remember and mourn the 800-plus American soldiers who have died in the war on Iraq, at 6 p.m. Monday on the beach next to the Naples Pier at the western terminus of 12th Avenue South. At 7 a.m. prior to the service, volunteers will place about 780 flags in the sand, each bearing the name and age of a fallen soldier. Information: 594-5754 or 649-6863.
